KAYTRANADA's "Bubba"
I often draw inspiration from the music I listen to, so for this project, I chose to design a poster for Bubba, a 2019 album by the artist Kaytranada. It's my favorite album of his, and I wanted to visually capture the emotions and imagery it evokes for me.
When I listen to Bubba, I imagine sleek, chrome textures—so that became the central visual theme of my design. I envisioned someone reaching out to touch the record, only to be transformed into a chrome skeleton, symbolizing being completely consumed by the music. To make the record stand out, I gave it a bold, three-dimensional presence. I also wanted the track list to feel dynamic and immersive, so I had the text weave through the composition and wrap around the record itself, drawing the viewer into the rhythm of the album. I used Procreate to draw the chrome record and skeleton, Illustrator to add grain texture and manipulate the typography, and photoshop to apply chrome to the Kaytranada text and to make other small edits.

These screenshots show snippets of my process throughout the project. I started with the record, then moved on to hand drawing the chrome textured skeleton, which was the most difficult yet enjoyable part of this entire process. Due to the lacking quality of Procreate's screen recording feature, the images are blurry.
